OLS 340  Fundamentals of Construction Safety

Course Description:  This course is structured to provide students with an overview of construction safety and health regulations.  Throughout the course student will participate in discussions pertaining to construction safety issues and will be provided information to evaluate the primary OSHA targeted hazards in this industry.  Students will learn to recognize key hazards, be exposed to control technologies and corrective actions for the prevention of an illness that commonly occurs at construction sites.


Students will need to (a) apply for admission to Purdue University Calumet, and once admitted, (b) register for the course.  Following are some basic instructions:

Call the Department of Construction Science and Organizational Leadership at 219 989-2332

  • Identify yourself as student interested in enrolling in OLS 340 at the Construction Safety Council
  • You will need to supply your name, Purdue I.D. number (will receive upon admission), phone number, and e-mail address
  • The department will then enroll the student into the course and send a course statement via e-mail.
